Additional series to meet increasing demands.

As the requirements increased and became more and more varied, Daimler-Benz added a larger Unimog series with the designation 406 from 1963. In 1972 Daimler-Benz returned to the original idea of an agricultural vehicle, and for many years the Unimog was joined by the MB-trac agricultural tractor.

Just two years later, the first examples of the 425 series began to leave the production line. This was the designation for heavy-duty Unimog for heavy loads, especially as tractor units.

From 1985 Daimler-Benz revised the entire Unimog range in several stages. A few years later it extended righjt up to the large Unimog U 2450 L 6x6, a three-axle model with an impressive engine output of 177 kW (240 hp). From 1992, with its new light and medium-heavy 408 and 419 series, the company appealed to municipal fleet operators more than ever before.

Shortly afterwards the role of a cult vehicle was assumed by the Funmog, a finely and eyecatchingly appointed Unimog which would not look out of place outside a disco. As the smaller brother of the Unimog, the new UX100 was mainly aimed at municipal services as a compact implement carrier from 1996.
